Toned down version of the colony ship, exclusive to the Heavy Expension PRT.
The mini-colony is the HE cheap alternative to normal colony ships. In addition, it is also the only ship in the game able to use the settler's delight, a very cheap scoop engine able to go as high as warp 6 without using fuel, bringing the fuel mizer to shame.
It is commonplace for an HE player to take advantage of the mini-colony hull and settler's delight combo by switching the colonization module for a cargo pod, turning the resulting ship into an early fast and fuel efficient small freighter. Some HE players have even be known to use this freighter design all game long by keeping it in service rather than scrapping it, saving on design slot and production time of new freighters.
